Punk Prom

Punk Prom is Evol's tongue-in-cheek reclaiming of the school dance, thrown for the freaks, geeks, queers and alt kids who never got their moment the first time round. It runs from early evening into the early hours, with live sets from Cape Town's rising alternative and punk bands and DJ sets keeping the floor going in between.

The night is built around radical acceptance and dressing up: local photographer Dominic Carling shoots prom portraits in the first few hours, drag performer Amanda Pressed hosts, and prom royalty is crowned for the best looks of the evening.
