Cape Town's spring programme starts in Woodstock, where Stevenson has opened three distinct solo exhibitions: Serge Alain Nitegeka turns migration into shadow, structure and movement; Hylton Nel draws on sixty years of ceramics; and Shine Shivan builds protest portraits from colour and gesture.
In the city centre, 99 Loop's Three-Part Play and WORLDART's In Order of Appearance open on 29 August. The AVA's current programme continues into September. The Waterfront changes pace on 9 September at Everard Read and on 18 September at Southern Guild, where Alexandra Karakashian and Simphiwe Buthelezi open parallel solo exhibitions.
Norval Foundation pairs its current museum exhibitions with Kate Gottgens's first institutional exhibition from 15 September. Zeitz MOCAA follows on 1 October with IMPRINT, a long-form studio residency focused on publishing collectives in Cape Town.
