Hylton Nel draws this exhibition from objects that he kept across sixty years of making. Plates anchor the display, but repetition never produces sameness: glaze, line, image and inscription turn each object into a record of attention.
The exhibition develops from Nel's 2023 survey at Charleston and considers ceramics as both useful objects and carriers of art history, politics, literature and daily observation.
