About
Afflict the Comfortable, Comfort the Afflicted is a survey of Los Angeles artist and filmmaker Cauleen Smith. Atmospheric installations connect experimental cinema, Afrocentric aesthetics, Black feminism, jazz, literature and speculative forms of gathering.
Thato Mogotsi curates the exhibition as an invitation to consider generosity as resistance. Films, sound, light and rarely engaged archives create spaces for relation, refuge and the imagination of Black utopias.
