A city-centre gallery showing contemporary African art, with a programme that gives space to emerging voices.
About
Eclectica Contemporary opened in 2016 and describes itself as an African gallery with an international outlook. Under director and curator Shamiela Tyer, it favours work that questions social and political structures, mixing solo shows by its artists with curated group exhibitions.
The space is set up to handle experimental, new-media and project-based work as well as more conventional painting and sculpture. In a short time it has become a notable part of the city-centre gallery scene.
It sits on Church Street among the cluster of galleries at the heart of the First Thursdays route.
