Everard Read Cape Town
ClosedOpens Friday 09:00A long-established gallery on the V&A Waterfront, with its CIRCA space and a sculpture garden, showing modern and contemporary South African art.
About
Everard Read is Africa's oldest commercial art gallery, founded in Johannesburg in 1913. It opened its Cape Town gallery on the V&A Waterfront in 1996 and shows modern and contemporary South African art with a leaning towards figurative painting and sculpture.
Next door stands its sister space CIRCA, a striking drum-shaped building whose curved, slatted facade has become a Waterfront landmark and hosts the gallery's more experimental and large-scale exhibitions. The group also runs galleries in Johannesburg, Franschhoek and London.
Between the two buildings it is one of the larger and more consistently busy commercial spaces in the city.
